A Monster Calls Book Review!!!

I've wanted to read this book for some time and I finally got the chance to! This story is about Conor and how he deals with his mother's cancer. His mother keeps telling him that everything will be ok and that she will get better just like the last few times with the treatments. But deep down Conor knows that's not true. He really wants to believe the words his mother says, but the way she acts and looks tells a different story. One night, a monster visits Conor and whenever the monster does it's at 12:07 a.m. The monster has come to tell Conor of three different tales, all with a similar message. By the time the monster finishes his third tale, Conor will have to tell the fourth. And it's not a tale he wants to speak of. This book was a really good read and showed us an insight to how Conor dealt with his mother's cancer. More than anything, Conor was really angry and just trying to hold back the sadness he felt. He took his anger out on other people and objects. He searched for a way to be treated like a normal person, but time and time again no one would treat him like one. Everyone either ignored or pitied Conor. It got to the point where he had beaten a classmate pretty badly. Conor had a friend (Lily) until he found out that she told everyone that his mother had cancer. He's angry at Lily for that, angry at his father for having another family in America, and angry that he'll have to live with his grandmother if his mother passes away. He feels so much anger that it's practically blocking out the sadness he feels. The monster though is determined to make Conor face the truth of what's going to happen. No matter how much it scares him, no matter how much he doesn't want it to be true, he will help Conor to the reveal the truth. This book was a quick read and I highly recommend it! Especially, if you wanna cry.
